On the occasion of the release of genetic blueprint for human beings in the world, it is our great pleasure to cordially invite you to be present on the Press Release on "Achievements on Burn Treatment by Skin Regeneration in China" scheduled at Baiyun Hall, Beijing Hotel at 3:00pm on Monday, August 8, 2000.
　　
　　The progress of medical science is going into a new era of a high speed development on the basis of genetic blueprint in which a great anticipation is directed to subsequent medical revolutionary achievements. The Press Release is focused on a new medical system established by Professor Rongxiang Xu and his team adopting cellular and molecular biological methods to develop a unique technology to duplicate skin tissue via stem cell for treating burns as well as on the successful clinical application of stem cell in China.
　　
　　It has been deemed all the time in the burn treatment circle that it is an inevitable outcome for deep II degree burns to heal with scar formation and there is no chance for III degree burns (full thickness derm burns) to heal spontaneously with skin regeneration before the medical system established. It is based on above thought that the burn doctors have no choice but incise burned skin first that makes burn wounds turn into secondary surgical trauma wound, and then to perform auto-grafting for the purpose of life saving and wound closure. However, it is a medical tragedy the burn circle is ashamed to face that burn patients suffer from serious pain caused by the incision and grafting during the surgical treatment and final result of disfigurement and disablement, and the survival rate for extensive burns is very low. In the end of twentieth century, having changed the train of thought, we have made a turn toward the directions in burn treatment from above burn surgical treatment to treating burns by skin regeneration developed by means of modern cellular and molecular biological technologies. The Press Release will make it public of a new medical system in which human stem cell is cultured in vivo to regenerate skin for burn treatment. It is declared that burn treatment begins a new era symbolized by skin regeneration developed by means of the technique of cellular and molecular biology. Burn patients no longer suffer pains and healed with scars resulted from surgical treatment. The survival rate for the extensive burn patients with more than 90%TBSA reaches to 92% without disablement.
　　
　　It is an inevitable approach of achieving human organ clone to do the research on human stem cell which was listed as the top of ten scientific achievements in "SCIENCE" in December of 1999. In many countries it presently remains in the process of designing and experimenting. However, in China with a bilateral thought integrated Chinese with Western medicine, Professor Rongxiang Xu, the academic leader in burn medicine in China, and his research team have successfully established skin regeneration technique via stem cell and have made successes in its application on burn victims with varied burn areas, depth and causes. The clinical results showed that superficial II degree and deep II degree burns heal pain-free, infection-free and scar-free while full thickness derm burns also heal with skin regeneration. It is a breakthrough in the study of human organ duplication suggesting the dream of regenerating human organ via stem cell has become a reality. Besides releasing relevant advanced achievements at this Press Release, dozens of extensive burn patients with more than 90%TBSA and deep burns healed from skin regeneration technique will make their appearance in the event to display the actual therapeutic effects of this technique.
